Lite Fare
Humor from our readers.

Krispy Kremes and Wine?
During our Sunday-morning communion service, I noticed a lack of bread in the basket. The family responsible for bringing the loaf for communion each week was on vacation and apparently hadn't made arrangements during their absence. Did anyone else notice? After a prayer for the bread was offered, I held my breath as an elder walked to the front and grabbed the breadbasket. When the basket passed into my hands, I looked down to find half a doughnut! Apparently someone had noticed and had quickly swiped a doughnut from the church kitchen during the prayer.
—Dana Ryan, Phoenix, Arizona

Too Much Information
One Sunday morning, an elder stood in the midst of our Southern congregation to offer public appreciation for his wife. "I have magic laundry," he bragged. He told how his dirty laundry "magically" gets clean and shows up in his drawers. "If I ever wonder how much my wife loves me, I just look in my drawers," he concluded.

Immediately, his wife slumped down in the pew. Snickers of laughter and stifled gasps scattered across the sanctuary. The preacher's face flushed bright red as he stammered for something to say. The elder, finally realizing what he had said, looked even redder.
—Kim Andrysczyk, Irmo, South Carolina

Open Invitation
My sister sat at the dining table making funeral plans with our precious 87-year-old mother, who has Alzheimer's. Suzanne asked Mother what hymns she wanted sung and who she wanted to sing. After a while of planning, Mother got excited and exclaimed, "This is really going to be good! Ya'll be sure to come."
