Key Bible Verse: "You will be able to tell wonderful stories to your children … about the marvelous things I am doing" (Exodus 10:2). Bonus Reading:Joshua 4:19-24

In my early pastoring days, my paycheck left us with more month than money. One morning as my wife, Anna, prepared to take the children to school, a creditor arrived at our home with a delinquent $200 bill, demanding immediate payment. My wife casually informed him that he'd get paid when her husband got home that evening. She closed the front door, called our six-year-old son, Aaron, and said, "We have to pray!" They got down on their knees and asked God to provide a port in the storm.

Around lunchtime, a woman from church arrived at the back door. She handed Anna an envelope and said, "I was praying today, and God said to give this to you." In the envelope she'd placed a check for $200.

Anna drove to Aaron's school, pulled him out of class, and showed him the check, the answer to his prayers. The wide-eyed young discoverer took one look and erupted, "Praise the Lord, Mom! Man! God is so good!"

Aaron is in his 20s now. After graduating from Bible college, he joined our staff as a youth pastor. I'm convinced that God used faith lessons such as these to unlock his divinely given potential.

My Response: I'll watch for occasions to make my faith tangible to young people.

Thought to Apply: From the family the child gains his first understanding of who he is, who God is, and how to relate his life to God and His purposes.

0Prayer for the Week

Heavenly Father, help me rise to my obligation to make my faith real to my children.
