Todd Wilson's Familyman Weekly You're a Grand Old Dad

Hey Dad,
From the emails sent me, it sounds like bunches of dads all across the country had some mighty good Kids' Days last week. We were stuck in Sumter, SC (in a good way) and celebrated it a day early with Kung Fu Panda and Chuck E. Cheese's. The movie was great (what's not to like about a Bruce Lee-ish striped bear), and although I'm not a huge fan of C.E.C., my kids had a great time. It won't go down in history as the most creative Kids' Day, but it doesn't have to in order to accomplish its purpose.
I wish I had some incredible tidbit of fatherly wisdom to offer right now, but my brain is tapped out. Next week, I'll be taking a little hiatus because we'll be speaking at a family camp in MD and out of wireless range.
Let me just wish you an early happy Fourth of July. Make it a good one with your family. Take the whole weekend off, grill some hamburgers, wave some good old-fashioned sparklers with your kids, and take the whole family to a fireworks display.
While I'm thinking about it, I've heard from several Familyman soldiers who are protecting our freedom in Iraq and could use your prayers … because it's not easy being a dad away from one's family, especially during holidays.
So thank God for freedom and the privilege of being a Familyman, and remember to pray for those who are on the line protecting that freedom.
And let me personally thank all of you fellow Familymen who are separated from your families so that we're able to be with ours. You 'da dad!!
You 'da dad,
