Todd Wilson's Familyman Weekly Thank You, Puddle Jumper Girl

Hey Dad,
A big Familyman thank you for praying for clear skies and a smooth flight this past week. I'm telling you, it was about the smoothest flight I've ever taken.
I also want to thank you for all of the great nose hair removal advice. I was overwhelmed by the first-hand—or nose—experiences and advice.
I thought I'd share some fatherly wisdom that I gained from eavesdropping on two girls while on a prop-driven puddle-jumper from Denver, CO, to Billings, MT.
Actually, I didn't get the whole conversation, but my ears perked up when two just-out-of-high school girls were talking about past family vacations.
Apparently, they were discussing what they enjoyed most about traveling when they were younger, and I heard one of the girls say, "What I really miss most is falling asleep in the car and having my dad carry me in, and then I'd wake up in my bed. I really miss that."
Maybe it was the way she said it so seriously or the way the other girl nodded in agreement, but I couldn't stop thinking about what she said.
This was a girl who hadn't been carried by her dad from the car in years, and yet that's what she missed most.
I remember that same magical feeling of being carried in from the car by my dad, trying hard not to let him know I was awake. I felt secure being held in his arms. And after being reminded by that girl on the plane, I decided I miss being carried by my dad, too.
Then I thought about how easy it really is to ensure that my children have the same good memory. And you can ensure the same for your children, too, Dad.
I know sometimes it's a pain—especially if you have more than one child, but carrying in your children from the car pays big dividends. And all you have to do is—do it. So thank you puddle-jumper girl, wherever you are, for the reminder.
You 'da dad,
